When your data is contextualized in Cognite Data Fusion, it’s time to start building solutions. First, you need to access the data with the API and SDKs that Cognite provides. Then, you can use Cognite and third-party tools to analyze and visualize your data. Seven of the courses in this path are mandatory to unlock the assessment, indicated with an asterisk(*) after the course title in the table below.

There are no hard knowledge prerequisites. However, we suggest you go through Cognite Data Fusion Fundamentals first. Also, it is recommended to have some previous experience with the Python programming language.

Complete all mandatory courses to unlock the assessment. After passing the final assessment, you’ll gain a certificate. On Cognite Hub, you’ll be awarded the Data Scientist Basics badge.

Learn to Use the Cognite Python SDK	Use the most common functions of Cognite Python SDK and available documentation as a reference. Setup authentication to connect to Cognite Data Fusion. List, search, and retrieve various resource types and data. Create, update, insert, and delete various resource types and data.
Introduction to API v1 using Postman	Set environment variables Make a test API request Find information about time series, assets, and events Download data
Cognite Charts	Explain when and why to use Cognite Charts. Use key features and functionalities of Cognite Charts. Connect to a CDF project and create new charts to solve use cases in Cognite Charts.
Industrial Canvas	Explain when and why to use Industrial Canvas. Use key features and functionalities of Industrial Canvas to explore contextualized data and collaborate on it visually.
Cognite Functions	Explain when and why to use Cognite Functions. Create & deploy a Cognite function with various methods: in a notebook, using a folder, or using the CDF user interface. Test & monitor the deployed functions using code or the CDF user interface.
Introduction to CDF & Grafana	Explain the advantages of using the Cognite Data Source for Grafana. Connect Grafana to a CDF project using the Cognite Data Source. Work with time series, events, and custom queries in Grafana.
CDF & Grafana: Solving a Use Case	Create a dashboard and visualize data from a CDF project. Work with different visualization panels like Time series and Gauges. Apply colors to display your time series data.
Introduction to CDF & Power BI	Explain the advantages of using the Cognite Power BI connector. Set up and connect Power BI Desktop to a CDF project. Work with Filtering and Aggregate functionalities in Power BI.
CDF & Power BI: Solving a Use Case	Use the Power query editor to retrieve data. Work with data and relationships between time series and data points. And finally, visualize data and create a report by using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
CDF & Power BI: Reports and Dashboards	Publish a report to the Power BI Service Update your dataset on a schedule
CDF & Power BI: Implementing Incremental Refresh	Explain the importance of incremental refresh. Identify the steps in configuring incremental refresh. Set up incremental refresh.
Data Scientist Basics Assessment	The final assessment covers the six mandatory courses in this learning path, and takes around 30 minutes. Earn a badge and certificate upon successful completion.
