Understanding Open Industrial Data
Examine hands-on in Postman how the different Cognite Data Fusion resource types apply to Open Industrial Data.
Welcome to Understanding Open Industrial Data!
The Open Industrial Data stream is available in Cognite Data Fusion. In this course, you will work with Postman to access this data. Postman is an open-source tool widely used in the IT world as an API development environment. It offers a fast and efficient way to access, edit, and delete data in Cognite Data Fusion.
This course uses software simulation so you can work in Postman without leaving the Industrial Digital Academy platform. Please note that depending on your internet connection, the software simulations may take a few seconds to load.
If you would like to follow along in Postman, please check out the technical prerequisites below. If you're working in Postman, remember to complete the exercises in the software simulation as well (eg. click or type when instructed so).

- Learn about some of the different Cognite Data Fusion resource types and how they apply to OID.
- What the tool Postman can be used for.

This course is independent, but also part of the learning path Hands-on With Industrial Data. We recommend that you take all courses from the Hands-on With Industrial Data series and take the final test to receive a certificate of completion.

Technical prerequisites
This course uses software simulation but you can follow along in Postman. If you will do that, you need to:
- Have an API-key for Open Industrial Data. (See the Open Industrial Data course.)
- Download Postman.
