PI Extractor

Welcome to the PI Extractor course!
The PI server is a proprietary operational intelligence software developed by OSISoft. OSISoft PI is an on-premises time-series database for gathering sensor data. The PI ecosystem has a number of interfaces to industry-standard sensor and control systems. It is widely used in the process industry.
The Cognite PI Extractor connects to the customer's PI Data Archive (the source) and extracts time series to the data to the customer's project in Cognite Data Fusion (CDF).
This course will walk you through the detailed demonstrations on how to configure and run Cognite's PI Extractor. Along with the demonstrations, you will learn about the basic concept of Cognite's PI extractor.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

• Find requirements for your host machine to be able to run the extractor.
• Install, configure, and verify the PI extractor.
• View data points from PI tags being ingested into CDF time-series.
• Upgrade your extractor that is running right now.
• Export metrics that can be used to monitor the extractor health and operation over time.

Knowledge prerequisites
Basic understanding of the PI server.

Technical prerequisites
There are no technical prerequisites to complete the course. However, if you want to follow along with the demonstrations, you need to have access to a PI server.

Data engineers or anyone interested in configuring and running the Cognite PI Extractor.
